Wishes of Illusion

A Djinn/Genie Anthology

This anthology is all about wish fulfillment! But you know what they say, be careful what you wish for, after all it may just come true... We are looking for unique stories involving those mysterious wish granters that make their homes in dusty lamps; genies! Also known as djinn, these creatures are deeply rooted in both mythology and culture. Be creative not safe! Think outside the box! Although we will not outright reject any story inspired by "Aladdin," we don't want all the same thing, so those may be a harder sell. We will however reject any story that takes it's inspiration from Disney's interpreatation of Aladdin (although we do love it, there is a thing called copyright) instead of the original fairy tale, this includes names of characters not featured in the original. So please do your research first!

Word Count: 500-10,500 (Please ask us before submitting a story that is under or over this.)

Isolation

An Isolation Horror Anthology

For our Halloween horror anthology this year, we are looking for tales of grisly and psychologically damaging isolation. Did a group of people get stranded on an island or snowy mountain peak with limited resources? Is there a killer on the loose? Is there someone pulling the strings demanding increasingly grotesque tasks? Is someone left alone to die, separated from their group? How do they deal with the trauma? Do they escape or succumb to their fate?

Supernatural elements are welcome, but we would prefer for this anthology that the stories focus more on the genres of horror and psychological thriller than fantasy or sci-fi.

Word Count: 500-10,500 (Please ask us before submitting a story that is under or over this.)

Beneath the Stained Glass Rose

An Anthology for the Reconstruction Effort of Notre Dame Cathedral

This is a very special anthology in honor of Notre Dame Cathedral, a place that is near and dear to our editor-in-chief's heart, and the terrible tragedy of the fire. It will be inspired by the near 900 years of history that burned with Notre Dame and a glimpse of hope for its future along with all the lives this sanctuary has touched throughout the centuries.

Your story needs to feature Notre Dame in a prominent way. There can be other settings, but at least part of the story should be actually set in Notre Dame. Stories can be about the fire, historical, modern before the fire, or take place in the future once it has been restored. Stories can have fantasy/supernatural elements and do not necessarily have to be religious in nature, but please do try and be respectful. If you would like clarification on this matter or would like to ask us if something is all right before writing/submitting your story, feel free to do so.

Word Count: 500-10,500 (Please ask us before submitting a story that is under or over this.)

Submission Period: April 23, 2019 - Until Full

Response Time:  Please allow up to one month. After that, if you don't hear from us then feel free to give us a little nudge. In some cases, we may wait until the end of the submission period to start sending out acceptance emails.
Compensation: This anthology will go toward the reconstruction efforts of Notre Dame. We ask that authors submit to donate their stories to the anthology. Contributing authors will receive a PDF copy of the anthology upon publication.

Twisted Fate vol. I: Apples Red as Blood

A Snow White Anthology

The first in a new series featuring retellings of fairy tales! This one will feature Snow White. We will be looking for new and fresh takes on the tale, however it has to be easily recognizable as a Snow White story. Just featuring a girl eating an apple at the very end won't cut it for this one! We want you to elaborate on the original short tale, give depth and feeling to the characters, motivations, desires, hope, and despair. The stories can be told from the POV of any character, not just Snow White. Please base your stories off of the original tale and your own imagination (NOT Disney, as much as we love them, those versions are copyrighted, this includes names exclusive to their version). We encourage you to use less common details from the original that most modern versions leave out, there is more to the tale than an enchanted mirror and poison apple! Feel free to ask us any questions if you would like clarification or if your idea would fit. No poetry.
